Industrial Style Shoot

Soo-hoo hoo. Yes, I've been MIA in my posting duties, but for good reason; we've been busty. I mean busy. This photoshoot was so much fun and I couldn't have asked for  a better team of who's-it's to work with !!!

We just got it featured on United With Love so I had to wait to post it---but isn't it gorge? *new word alert*.

The concept was pretty straightforward; Industrial Romance. Hard vs. soft elements for a nice contrast. What do you think?!

Photography: Eyewonder Photography
Venue: Trohv
Styling, Startionery and Design: DIYva Designs, LLC
Florals: Petals and Promises, LLC
Hair: Kaliza Hutchinson (David Rios Salon)
Dress: Hitched Bridal Salon

The gorgeous models!
For the stationery, I designed a very eclectic and Industrial Set that featured some real metal elements for a 3-D effect

This little clock is metal, and is set to the 'time' of the wedding. I cant wait to use this idea for real~!!!!
I love separate RSVP's, they really simplify your process

Kaliza Hutchinson did this killer updo. I LOVE this soft braid that wraps around.
This full and romantic bouquet from Petals and Promises Really stole our breath! The metal flower in the middle added a cool touch

Such an awesome mix of chairs~! Trohv had everything we could possibly need and more!

This seating chart I designed in order to consolidate the typical placecards, and I used wooden Bingo numbers to make the table numbers. Fun!
The Wet Bar was design with a His and Hers theme and played up on the masculine and feminine elements as well

And the signature shot from the evening was totally this shot of the groom pushing the bride away in the basket! Kristiaan and Lionel are true artists~!

Garden Wedding Inspiration

Ok. So one of my clients said "you should start posting the design plans you create for us" . While I cannot publish my design plans until after I publish the actual wedding, I can at least show folks what's brewing in the studio in a general sense, why not?!

Today's budding design plan is for Jen + Jon, who will be getting married next year and hired us to plan + design something playful, colorful, and Eco-conscious. Um, done!

Here is a starter board I created just to lcok down the colors and overall feel. I do not usually work with inspiration boards, because they are stock full of what has already been done, but they sure are helpful, so I suppose I should shut up and get on it. lol.

I am playing with some Art Deco elements for their stationery, with a strong modern text--- (Jon's gotta have it.)---- below, and hopefully we can pull off a killer eco-garden wedding! I love the fact that Jen thinks outside of the box, and wants to incorporate some paper cranes! Yum:)

C'mon Vogue...

Ok, so the new 9-5 has me running around like a chicken with its head cut off (for lack of better cheesy analogies), therefore, my posts have been dwindling, but fear not! Here I am, back with a vengeance!

Our latest event is a travel themed wedding with a lot of cool elements being implemented. We're really excited to help plan and design this one, but I'm particularly excited about one aspect of the event. Our bride to be wants to incorporate a photo booth guest book during the course of her big day. Basically, we'll be creating a photo booth, complete with props and black and white pictures, so guests can sign and personalize and leave for the bride and groom. Of course, our design shall be revealed at a later date, but I wanted to introduce the idea, since it's being implemented in so many different events. Below are some photo booth ideas that I loveee and had to share! Enjoy!

DJ Earth's Headpiece & Bouquet

We had the pleasure of creating a one-of-a-kind silk bouquet and bridal headpiece for DC's premier DJ Earth 1ne. She is the most kind, unassuming petite woman, and you would never know she rocks the turn-tables like a BEAST when the lights go down. Well, I had to create a hairpiece and birdcage veil that would not swallow up her face, and a bouquet that would not overwhelm her frame. She preferred silk flowers to fresh ones; so that she could keep her bouquet long after the wedding

We traveled over to the art store together to gather some materials, and here is the photo-show of my creations:

Fundant!

While I finish up a painting and a bridal headpiece for two clients, I thought I would post some pics of a cool project I undertook a little while ago.
My love of baking (and mostly devouring cavity-inducing cakes and treats)---led me to try my hands at fondant cakes. I always admired the skill it takes to create an edible sculpture such as a fondant cakes, you know like the ones you see on 'Ace of Cakes' and the likes? It would be awesome if I could offer our brides a fondant cake for their wedding, on top of the other amazing crafts they get for their special day! (Of course this would take a little time to learn and master)
Well after researching and trying different fondant and cake recipes, (as they MUST be made from scratch---store brought fondant is just icky)----I found the perfect recipes, downloaded a picture of a really nice Coach Purse that I thought would look cool as a cake, and this is what I created: What do you think?

This took me a while, and there are still some things I need to prefect, but it tasted AMAZING and that's all that matters! I tried some simpler cakes, too:
It is sooo fun I totally suggest getting messy (but clean) in your kitchen with some fondant, and you can practice on a boxed cake too!
