Creative Catering: Focus on Desserts!

Anyone who knows me is well aware that I am a self-proclaimed foodie. You also probably know that adding self-proclaimed before any title completely discounts your credibility and makes you sound like a snobby, know-it-all. I’ve made my peace with it. But really, when it comes to food, I generally know what I’m talking about, which is why I LOVE creative catering at events.

Event catering has gone from being a tired after-thought, to serving as some of the most stunning design aspects of a party and as people are becoming aware of this, they are making more of an effort to wow their guests with culinary creativity.

Recently, I have been doing some research for a client’s holiday party and I came across these sweet treats that will not only taste delicious, but add a little bit of excitement to your otherwise bland dessert tables...

These glitter
bon bons from Bedazzle My Bon Bons are SO fun!

Champagne Jello Shots (via Indulgy). These absolutely blew my mind and I want them, like now.

And Finally...

These customizable and DELICIOUS caramels from Suss Sweets are perfect for a rustic wedding or even just to enjoy on my your own (since I just found out they're available at some of my fave fancy pants stores like Dean and Deluca and William Sonoma!)

So what I'm really trying to say here is, go, like now, and get your hands on these yummy treats for your next event, get-together, whatever. Oh, and don't forget to send us an invite, cause really, it was our idea!

Cheers!

Move over Cupcakes and Make Room for the Whoopie Pie!

What is it?: The whoopie pie (alternatively called a gob, black-and-white, bob, or "BFO" for Big Fat Oreo) is an American baked good that may be considered either a cookie, pie, or cake. It is made of two round mound-shaped pieces of chocolate cake, or sometimes pumpkin or gingerbread cake, with a sweet, creamy filling or frosting sandwiched between them. (Definition from Wikipedia)

Why they’re so awesome?: The whoopie pie is an awesome dessert that is taking the place of cupcakes, cake pops and macaroons everywhere! It can be used for favors, place card design and dessert bars for any special event and it is a delicious treat that your guests will not be able to get enough of!

I love how unpretentious they seem to be. Not dainty or perfect in the least, but still super interesting and cool in their own way. The whoopie pie is definitely the hipster in the world of desserts!

French Macaroon Heaven:)

Macaroons are a VERY tasty and beautiful treat to have as a part of any wedding or event; the colors can be customized any way you want, and there are so many fun ways to display them!

We had the chance to order some online for the launch party---local bakeries charge WAYYY too much for these tiny cookies---and I really got lucky when I found Sparkle's Kitchen!
Check out her macaroons, (we had the mini-macaroons)----and best of all, her prices. Next on my list is her Madeline's---Oh I could eat a thousand of those!!

Cake Pops to DIE for!

Our Sponsor from Pink Treasure Chest Boutique, has become my new best friend. When these cake pops arrived for the launch in perfect condition I almost melted. Then I tasted one. (Or two, can't quite recall....don't judge me.) Melissa made strawberry cake from scratch and covered it with quality chocolate in our jade green logo color and dusted it with edible gold glitter. I hate strawberry cake. But I actually loved hers. Alot of cake-pops you get are wayyyy too gooey because people use too much frosting in the mix, but this is our official cake-pop lady forever for our events. The packaging was a high priority for her team; every cake pop was individually wrapped and therefore unscathed.

She also sent us some glittery gold cupcake wrappers, to be featured at a later date; we did not have time to put them on the cupcakes before the door burst open and guests flew in at record speed. (hehe.)

This is a blatant lie.
