Designer Crush on Virgos Lounge

Recently, I came across Virgos Lounge, an online European clothing boutique, that has been heavily documented on some notable fashion blogs. I don't know where I have been, but this boutique is becoming the go-to online destination for special occasion wear. With sequins, bold colors and feminine shapes these garments are sure to turn heads. More importantly, their dresses are bridesmaids and reception dress approved.  These swoon-worthy styles make me want to get dressed and celebrate.

It used to be a taboo for anyone, but the bride to wear white, but recently bridesmaids have been donning the crisp white palette traditionally monopolized by the bride.  Brides are allowing their bridesmaids to share in the purity of the color by wearing white which gives a monochromatic look.  Typically, an all-white palette conveys a crisp clean look, but incorporating cream and off white tones add warmth to the overall look. Plus, mixing textures and styles makes the look more interesting. Among all the pinks and reds this month, this trend is a refreshing getaway for my visual consumption.

DIYva Dish: Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

Of course your best friend since the 9th grade knows she is a shoe-in for the made-of-honor gig and your office comrade has already assisted you with picking out your wedding colors and suggested some venues, so she knows she will be on your bridesmaids list. Even if your ladies already know they are on your bridesmaids list, it's always nice to personalize the invitation.  Give them a formal invitation by creating a gift that is unique to your style or friendship. If you like to bake, ask them with some treats. Make a kit with your color swatches and wedding design inspiration or personalize something you know they would love to use.  The possibilities are endless.

Themespiration: Patterned Bridesmaid Dresses

A recurring trend that I have been seeing and loving is the patterned bridesmaid dresses.  I am a fan of unique details in a wedding and patterned bridesmaid dresses is a way to set your wedding apart.  Since pretty patterned dresses can be found everywhere dresses are sold, not just traditional bridal shops, it can be a way to cut cost for the budget-conscious bride.  So be creative and look for this trend at your favorite department store or local boutique.  Have fun with your friends choosing the pattern and make sure it reflects your wedding design style.

Wedding Wednesdays: The Bridesmaid.

You are doing one of two things right now if you are a woman, on the eve of Thanksgiving.
a) You are sweaty and cooking (likely with a glass of wine, and some music or loud offspring diddling in the background.)
b) You are starving yourself because tomorrow you are going to eat like a pig and it's nobody's business but your own. (and everyone reading this blog if they can identify you.)

I am so about to interrupt your glutenous doings; we are going to make some changes to SugarandArt.

Starting with....(drum or wooden spoon roll)....WEDDING WEDNESDAYS! ---Basically, some fun tips, favor ideas, and all things wedding related. We get a lot of traffic from soon-to-be-I-doers, so it's about time we actually make this a semi-consistent wedding blog. (SEMI. We still want to post about EVERYTHING art & design related.) 

Ok so we do not only focus on wedings, but let's face it; they are fun and give people like me (COCD)--Creative Obsessive Compulsive Disorder---- a chance to be as creative as possible when it comes to fashion and design.

I have seen some HORRRIBBLEE bridesmaids gowns. Let's face it; you don't want your sexy BFF looking better than you on your big day. But do you have to do her like this?!:

What the heck was she thinking? I wouldn't have even smiled. We wouldn't even be FRIENDS after this. I wonder if I squeeze her hind-parts will I hear an accordion......ok ok.

There are PLENTY of affordable, sexy, fun dresses that you can slap onto your friends on your wedding day. Make sure it's something that looks good on their body type (have some variation in the style if not the colors) ----and you will have some happy bridesmaids!
