It's Monday! I hope you all had a lovely Easter Weekend. I enjoyed a picnic with some lovely eccentric and well-traveled people, and I am about to go see my new niece at the hospital! Bob Marley Painting. Delish.

I have been a'busy folks! I know I keep saying that so hush. Right now I am pumped up on personality juice (coffee) which I don't normally drink but my mind is tired so you know how that goes. Aside from meeting some cool people this week, I have been finishing up a Bob Marley painting that someone ordered and here it is. I used tissue to make his locks, and this heinous old green sweater that I had worn until the seams came undone-----ok TMI-----to make his hat.

Ok that's my yum-yum for the day! I am off to drop him off, and get started on a fondant cake that we are making for someone's birthday this weekend.......(and then I'm throwing on my get-down shoes ---as if I do anything more than a wine-induced two-step---and taking my friend Jill out for a DC good time because she is here from Puerto Rico!)

Ouch! It's Rebecca & Rachel Crouch!

These sibling artists are so talented it almost hurts! lol. When I taste the visual elixirs of sisters  Rachel D. Crouch , and Rebecca Crouch , I am immediately inspired. The fulgent, rich colors that they  have made to dance on each canvas tell a story of culture, depth, belonging. 


The Crouch's obeisance to the president in their Obama collections are of adulate commemoration, in the form of poetic paint strokes and color mixture. The poetry Rececca writes brings each piece to life in your mind as you absorb the meaning like her personal little sponge.

Nina Friday, on a Monday:)

I've got the Mondays. And that is a good thing. Think of Monday as the beginning of a new week and a chance for a new you. You can make a new list of objectives, and tingle as you cross them off upon completion. You can be productive all week and plan an exciting weekend if you so choose!

Here is a bit of inspiration. At least, it inspires me because I'm already in my art studio working on a custom painted bag someone pre-ordered. I can't WAIT to get our Etsy shop up and running.

Anyway, like I was saying; since it's rainy again today, I will post some work of an artist I find fitting to the weather, Nina Friday . <---Check out her shop. She has a goth touch about her portraits (made-up women, like my Le Salon Rouge line)---and I LOVE the feel of their eyes:

Things 1, 2 & 3 in Vivi-Color. Psychedelic!

So I am currently obsessed with this new painting technique; it's called expressionism.---Well, it's new to ME.----Van Gogh had it down to a T---- I took a pic of each of my Things and painted them in vivi-color. These would look GREAT if you have children, the bright color very playful and wakes up any color scheme you may have going (and I do not charge and arm and a leg for my art:)

My Quick Design Snatch!

Aside from mingling with some cool new folks this weekend in celebration of my friend's birthday in Atlantic City----which was a three and a half hour drive that morphed into a nightmarical NINE hour trot down the highway--------I spent my weekend doing this: (Be prepared to just about vomit in merriment.)

I put this art on my dining room wall. (See my previous post where I snagged the idea)----I will show you what I've got when I'm finished. (Of course now I have to upstage my wall with a cool new centerpiece and other decorative nomenclature.)  What do you think?!

Can I Paint THIS on your walls?!

Oh, before you go! I need some people to volunteer to let me paint like this on their walls!!!
Check out my new design find; from Styley Walls, some new art deco vinyl wall mounts for your dining room, bedroom, entrance hallway, or whatever. I was thinking if I painted this in the entrance hallway, little hooks could go in the wall for coat hanging at the end of each branch. YUMMMM!

Who is this chick?

Who the hell am I? Hard to explain. I am a chameleon; an ever-changing orb of human creativity; a painter, singer, writer, and designer.

I started painting in 2003 while in my senior year in high school when I had an art teacher who saw me draw a damn circle and said: "draw yourself." I looked at her like she surely had two heads and only I could see them. Well, out of nothing but curiosity, I came back the next day with a picture of myself. I was like, "ummmm....now what?" She told me to see myself, as a continuum of tiny lines that met in different places, all over the paper. She sectioned off my blank canvas and told me to see the picture in sections. It took about a week, but I concentrated and above was the outcome; a portrait of me, huge man-hands and all.

Then I took to painting, and taught myself light values, and all that other crap I do not know the technical names for; I just do it. Art is simply something you see, whether in the mind, or with the eyes, dissected, and put together in manifest form with your voice, hands, feet or what have you. ANYONE can be an artist. What is YOUR medium?
