NIkki + Andrew's Travel Theme Wedding

Nikki and Andrew proved that intimate weddings rock with their 50 person celebration at Epic Yoga in DC. We were able to make all of the details count!

There are some things that I was not able to secure photos of, such as the HUGE chalkboard photography backdrop from Michelle VanTine Photography, the drool worthy little Baggage Claim Ticket place-cards with tiny metal airplane charms attached to each, and the table-scapes!!!----We had flowers cascading down the table in various little containers, and Vintage Map Table Runners that we had flown in from France.....le sigh. We put so many details into this wedding it hurts. This is why I need a camera and some basic low-light shooting skills lol!!!

Anyway, check out what we have here! I loved Nikki's taste. Designing this wedding was everything!

Venue: Epic Yoga Studio
Caterer: Spilled Milk Catering
Photography: Michelle VanTine Photography (Pablo + Muriel!)
Desserts: Joy's Cake Studio
Design, Florals, Planning: Taylor + Hov Events
Custom Stationery: Taylor + Hov, Events
DJ + Lighting: Max Powers/ I Want Ambiance Lighting

I spray painted a Globe with Chalk Paint that I found at a Thrift Store
Guests Left the couple some love
Chevron Straws with mini milk glasses for the lemonade bar

Sexy Lemonade Bar!
I Love this shot!

Creams, pinks, soft green, and a pop of blue for the Bouquet

I love it when brides do something different for their shoes

I added some little dry wood "globes" for a slightly nautical feel in the bouquet

We love to encourage clients to let people sit where they are comfortable, everyone is becoming family!
This backdrop took A LOT of work! My best friend Erika came over to the studio, tool-clad and we assembled these huge wood boards with suitcases sawed in half as shelves. It was adorable!

Joy's Cake Studio did an AMAZING job on the goodies!

Shereta + Larry's Library Themed Wedding

What can I say about Larry + Shereta's Modern Library Themed Wedding excepted that I LOVED creating it!

I truly appreciate a client that allows me to be as creative as I can be with their wedding. When Shereta came to our launch party two years ago, I remember her; quiet, with her glasses and a glass of wine, taking in every detail. When she called me I was excited to hear that she was open to a themed wedding and we settled on a library theme because she and Larry love to read like me!

Date: July 29 2011
Venue: Sunset Room, National Harbor
Caterer: In Style Caterers
Florist: DBI Event Florals and Decor
Photographer: Michelle VanTine Photography
Planning + Design: DIYva Designs, LLC

Aren't her accessories to DIE FOR? (Or actually, kill for so one can live to enjoy them....the woman has exceptional taste.
The groom, Larry is as cool as they come.

The brooch that her mother let her use for the bouquet was breath-taking and really made it stick out as an amazing detail.

Those convertible maxi dresses never go out of style! These ladies rocked them perfectly.

Michelle VanTine is the master of perspective. I pretty much drool over all her work, and no, not only because she is our fav photographer. Beat it.

I'm lucky enough to know a carpenter who I can use for his wooden genius. I designed these "book" cupcake and cake-pop stands for Shereta, and it took me twelve long hours to cut each letter and carefully place them as titles . (I'll do a separate post about these book stands.) We did an exorbitant amount of huge paper flowers to add to the decor.
At Shereta's DIY Bridal Party, her guests helped us to create those fabric pomanders you see on the above dessert bar, as well as these cool bale top jars with the ingredients to make chocolate chip cookies.

The centerpieces were books I spray painted navy blue, with white candle-holders, and some white bud vases with a few stems in each. On the sweetheart table, I had wooden books made and I put a personalized title on each for the couple.

Now you know if there is a photo-booth we are on top of it!! :)

Real Wedding: Jason & Vinny

We had much too much fun working with Jason and Vinny to plan and design a perfect travel themed wedding. The beautiful couple has been literally around the world together and wanted to tie the knot in the same style! With the much needed help of our amazing interns Livy and Dior, we pulled together this beautiful wedding for the sweet couple. (Um.....can we say HOURS of crafting and printing ? ----with a bottle of wine of course. lol)

We created an airplane with their initials on it as the model number, along with some vintage aviation goggles and helmets for a photo-booth that the guests LOVED. -----So much that one of them um, danced with it? lol.

We also got to work with some of the BEST vendors around, including the lovely San Fransisco based Ben Chrisman and Erin Reed whose wedding in Mexico we will be crashing. Sigh. No, really though, Ben and Erin. hehe.

We got to meet Holly Chapple, the florist who doesn't stop smiling ----she went above and beyond to provide some jaw-dropping florals and lended us some of the travel-themed props that you see in the pics below.

Planning/Design: DIYva Designs, LLC
Venue: Oxon Hill Manor
Caterer: Main Event Caterers (Michelle Fishman)
Photography: Ben Chrisman and Erin Reed
Florist: Holly Heider Chapple
Lighting: DaVinci Florist
Cake: Patisserie Poupon
Ceremony Musician: Chris Dunn
DJ: Evan Reitmeyer
                                                   Vinny is BEAUTIFUL, always smiling.
Her dress was so intricate and it fit her perfectly.
                                                                  The bride and groom. :)
Seriously? Who thinks up a shot like this?

For the table numbers, there was the name of a country, to correspond with their luggage claim tickets...

We did America, France, and Indonesia for the dessert bar, and I took a vintage globe and put the word TREATS in front of it. :)
Our cupcakes from scratch were gone in like, 60 seconds. lol.
The JV-627 (Jason & Vinny + Their wedding date)
We danced with the bride. (and a few other folks too)-----you know we like to boogie!
Can you see him dipping the bride in the distance? Perfect shot once again.
HILARIOUS!!!!!!!
