Soooo I have been in the process of redesigning my art studio to make it a place for meetings, DIY sessions with my clients, and WINE of course....don't you simply adore everyone when you're a tad tipsy? Hey, as long as you can stil sew or glue straight you are all welcome to a sip of Reisling or Rose in the artsy hallows I call my basement.
Anywhoooo. I had my awesome husband film a bit of me working on this old desk. You see I needed a new sewing table and I am on a strict no-new-furniture diet so I took it apart, painted it and covered it with pretty papers.
This is the old desk:
Here is what you will need (in case you have an old piece that you too would like to renovate.)
1) Sand the desk JUST A LITTLE. Now you know most contemporary pieces at Ikea and the likes are a wood veneer. Dont be afraid to sand it just a tad but don't get all crazy.
2) Add two layers of whatever paint you choose. Let this dry overnight.
3) Measure the top of your desk (or whatever surface you wish to transform) and cut the paper accordingly. Get creative. Use the Mod Podge to adhere it and make sure you rub it on there good.
4) Once the table is dry and pretty, put a layer of Triple Thick on the whole thing. It will give you a glass like finish on the top. If you dont want the whole thing shiny, use a paint sealer of any kind, most of which you can find in a spray can.
Voila! Can we say almost FREEEEE new piece of furniture? :) Muah! Check out my video. (And yes, I paint and mod-podge away in fancy frocks. I'm cool like that.)

- Fancy Paper (Go to michaels and get crazy like me. Mix up your patterns and keep the same color flow.)
- Mod Podge (Also found at Michaels)
- Wood Paint (Sticks to wood better than acrylic)
- Triple Thick (It is a cheap version of resin)

- Some good music
